Argentina advanced to the World Cup final after winning a penalty kick shootout over the Netherlands on Wednesday in São Paulo.
Argentina converted all four of its penalties, starting with its leadoff man, Lionel Messi. The Netherlands missed two, by Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder.
In contrast to the other semifinal, in which Germany hammered Brazil, 7-1, this game lacked incident and ended scoreless. After 120 minutes, Argentina had just six shots on goal and the Netherlands three.
The final is Sunday in Rio de Janeiro.
